I wanted to share with you the upcoming events going on at Murray. We will be having an early out this Wednesday for Professional Development. Our teachers will be studying winter BRI and MAP test data. They will be sending home reading and math plans for your child and some ideas for you to practice with your children in the evenings. This Saturday, February 9 is our elementary 5th and 6th grade girls basketball tourney. It begins at 9 am and runs all day in the gym. This is a big event. Next Saturday, February 16 is our elementary 5th and 6th grade boys basketball tourney. It begins at 9 am and runs all day in the gym. This is a big event. Our varsity girls basketball team will begin regional play on Tuesday, February 12 at home at 7 pm. Our girls have had a great season and we invite you to the game. Our varsity boys basketball team will begin district play on Thursday, February 14 at home at 7pm. It will be a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The biggest event for Murray Elementary will begin on Monday, February 18. We will begin our ITBS tests. It will be given throughout the week. These tests are very important for our school as the results are sent to the state and federal education departments. Last year our scores were excellent and we look forward to another great testing week. We have been able to stay off of the watch list and we hope the trend continues. We encourage you to make sure our students get plenty of rest that week. We will be taking the tests in the morning. The tests are given to all students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. The students will be given some test taking tips to take home for you to review with your child. A big congratulations to the fourth grade and their very successful managing of the concession stand during the recent conference tournament. Thank you to the parents for helping, as well. It was a long day, but well worth the effort as they made enough money to go on their field trip to the Omaha zoo in May. Thank you for your continued support of our school. Feel free to come and visit. If you have any questions, contact us at 447-2517. Danny Jensen, Elementary Principal |
